Pombo-in-Their-Pocket RV Tour Kicks Off on Tax Day

Activists Hop on RV for a Rolling Tax Day Press Conference Through CA-11

Pleasanton, CA - On the day when Californians are rushing to submit their taxes, the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund's Pombo-in-their-Pocket campaign rolled through California's 11th district spreading the word about Rep. Pombo's RV vacation and luxury car, both paid for at taxpayer's expense.  Activists boarded a full-sized RV emblazoned with banners highlighting Rep. Pombo's antics and made planned stops in Lodi, Stockton, Tracy, Pleasanton, and Morgan Hill.

"As Rep. Pombo's constituents pay their taxes, I think it's important that they know exactly what he's been doing with their money," said Rodger Schlickeisen, Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund President.  "I'm sure they'd be surprised to find out that their hard-earned tax dollars are giving Rep. Pombo a free ride."

The Pombo-in-their-Pocket RV tour in just the latest in the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund's ongoing campaign to focus attention on Rep. Pombo's anti-environmental agenda and taxpayer-funded luxuries.

"Rep. Pombo is perhaps the most anti-environmental member of Congress.  He has proposed selling off 15 of America's national parks to the highest bidder and has repeatedly sacrificed our natural heritage for the benefit of big corporations and oil companies," said Schlickeisen.  "That's not what our nation is about."

"We're dedicated to making sure the people of California's 11th district know whose interests Rep. Pombo is representing in Washington because it certainly isn't theirs."

The RV tour kicked off as Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund radio ads continued to hit the local airwaves and volunteers spent the weekend going door-to-door in Tracy, San Ramon, Dublin and Pleasanton.
